Amritsar June 30
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday termed Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu as a ‘misguided missile’ which can go in any direction and also criticised AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal terming his visit to Punjab as a `deceptive’ one.
Within minutes of Badal remarks, the cricketer-turned-politician hit back and tweeted, “Guided and aimed at you to destroy your corrupt businesses … Until your Sukh Vilas built on Punjab’s ruins is not turned into a Public School & Public Hospital to serve Punjab’s poor, I won’t relent !!’’
Sukhbir was in Amritsar on Wednesday and after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple along with his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal, he said Sidhu, like a misguided missile, could explode in any direction. “I fear that it could hit him too”, he said sarcastically while adding ‘right from a cricketer to a politician, he remained a controversial figure’.
Launching a scathing attack on Kejriwal, he said, “Kejriwal has no association or connection with Punjab. Who would be held accountable if Kejriwal’s words were not kept? His announcement of 300 units of free power proved to be hollow at the spot when he was made to clarify if the power consumption exceeded the prescribed limit. In that case, every unit would be charged. He was here just to deceive the people of Punjab to garner vote bank, which would be a futile exercise. Moreover, being CM of Delhi, why couldn’t he do it in his territory?”, he remarked.
Strongly condemning the state Congress government for ordering lathicharge on the jobless, he said that instead of using ‘danda’ formula to chase them away, the CM should have spared time to atleast listen to their grievances and decision could be taken on merit later on.
On rising fuel prices, he said that the price could be reduced by Rs 30 per litre, if the state and the Centre governments work on tax structure efficiently, instead of filling their coffers.
On the other hand, Harsimrat Badal said that Kejriwal who came to lay the web of lies on the people of Punjab was exposed. She said that his (Kejriwal) governance at New Delhi drastically failed during the Covid-19 crisis.
“His offer of free power was quite confusing and misleading. As per his offer, the economically weaker section which earlier have facility of 200 units of free power, too would be charged if the consumption exceeded”, she said.
Taking former IG and newly inducted AAP leader Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, she said that he should be held accountable for playing with the emotions of the people and fulfilling his political instincts. She viewed that instead of nabbing the culprits of sacrilege incidents, his findings end up in wastage of time and public money.
