Former Punjab finance minister Surinder Singla passes away at 78

Former Punjab finance minister and Rajya Sabha ex-MP Surinder Singla passed away in the early hours of Thursday at AIIMS where he was rushed after complaining of breathlessness.
Singla was 78. He had been ailing for the past few years and had been residing in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area.
Early on Thursday morning, Singla had a major respiratory arrest and was rushed to AIIMS at 4 am. He died around 6 am.
Singla is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
The cremation will be held at the Lodhi Crematorium at 11 am on Friday. The family said they are waiting for the arrival of the late leader’s son and daughter who are both abroad.
Singla last month suffered from a pneumonia attack and was admitted to AIIMS.
He had returned home only about a fortnight ago.
